What gets replies in Instagram Stories
Three patterns tend to drive replies and DMs. Interactive stickers, such as polls, quizzes and question boxes, give viewers an easy way to respond. Behind-the-scenes moments feel more personal than polished posts, which is what Stories are for. And a direct question in the text, such as 'What's your biggest blocker this month?', invites people to answer in a DM.
The AI writes the words, not the stickers. Tell it what you need in your brief, for example 'poll question with two short options about our next flavor' or 'one-line overlay for a behind-the-scenes clip, playful'. Then add the sticker in Instagram and paste the text where it belongs. Set Length to Short for overlays and sticker text.
Keep Story text short and readable
A photo Story stays on screen for only a few seconds, and many viewers tap through even faster. Text that takes longer than that to read gets skipped. Keep each overlay to a short line or two, and if you have more to say, split it across several Story frames instead of cramming one.
Placement matters too. Keep text away from the very top and bottom of the screen, where your profile name and the reply bar sit, and away from faces or products. Use high-contrast text, because light text on a light photo disappears. Read each suggestion out loud at normal speed: if it takes more than a breath, shorten it.
Story sequences for different goals
Lead generation: end on a frame with a link sticker or a prompt like 'DM me INFO', and say exactly what people get.
Community: use poll and question stickers. 'This or that?' questions are easier to answer than open-ended ones, so they usually get more taps.
Product launch: plan a short sequence, such as tease, reveal, demo, proof and call to action, with one idea per frame.
Behind the scenes: a quick, unpolished clip with one line of text explaining what is happening.
For a sequence, describe every frame in your brief, such as 'five frames for a launch: tease, reveal, demo, review, link', and ask for text for each one. Each generation gives you up to three options to compare.
If you plan Stories ahead, Social media studio can publish Story images and videos to Instagram on a schedule, so put any text on the image or video before you upload it. Stories that need stickers, such as polls or questions, are best posted from the Instagram app.
