About the integration

Schedule posts, images, videos, and polls to any Mastodon instance from one place. Manage mentions, replies, and DMs in a unified inbox and track favourites, reblogs, and replies over time.

Why integrate Mastodon

Mastodon runs across thousands of independent instances, which makes consistent posting hard to keep up by hand. Scheduling and a shared inbox let you stay present on the fediverse without logging into each server.

  • Schedule text posts, images, videos, and polls
  • Connect any Mastodon instance by entering its URL
  • Set visibility, content warnings, and post language
  • Handle mentions, replies, and DMs in one inbox
  • Track favourites, reblogs, replies, and follower growth

How to connect

Connect via Mastodon's official OAuth flow, you enter your instance URL and authorize Social media studio on that server, so no password is ever stored.

  1. 1Click Connect Mastodon on the Social Accounts page and enter your instance URL.
  2. 2Authorize Social media studio on your instance's login screen.
  3. 3Start scheduling and managing your inbox.

Your data is safe

We register an app on your Mastodon instance and use its official OAuth flow, requesting only read and write scopes needed to publish and read engagement. Access tokens are stored per account and we never store your password.

Yes, if it runs Mastodon, from big public servers to self-hosted ones. Social media studio registers its own app on your server, so you don't need to create one or copy any keys, and you approve access on your server's login page. If the server refuses the app registration, the connection can't go ahead.

No. Social media studio caps every Mastodon post at 500 characters, Mastodon's default, even if your server allows more, and a longer post fails instead of publishing. Media limits are fixed too, whatever your server's own settings: up to 4 images of 16 MB each, or one video of up to 99 MB and 5 minutes.

A poll has 2 to 4 options of up to 50 characters each and runs for a set time from 5 minutes to 7 days. You can allow multiple choices and hide the vote totals until it ends. Mastodon doesn't allow media on a poll, so a post with a poll can't carry images or video.

No. Social media studio uploads images and videos to Mastodon without a description, so they publish without alt text. If a post needs image descriptions, publish it from your Mastodon app, where you can add them before posting.
