Threads is built around conversation, so the posts that fit best give people something to reply to: a question, an opinion or a quick story. Each post has room for 500 characters. This AI Threads post generator turns a short brief, or a post you wrote for another platform, into up to three conversational drafts that aim to fit that limit, in the tone and length you choose. It's free to try: sign in on the Creator plan or above, or start a Creator trial, to generate with your plan's AI caption credits.
What works on Threads
Threads is a text-first app from Meta, and its feed is built around replies. Posts that give people something to respond to tend to fit best: a clear opinion, a question about their experience, a quick story with a point, a useful tip or a behind-the-scenes moment.
Write the way you'd talk. Short sentences, plain words and a real point of view read better than polished marketing copy. If you want replies, end with an invitation that's easy to answer, such as 'What would you add?' or 'Which one would you pick?'
Fit your point in 500 characters
A Threads post can be up to 500 characters: more room than a standard post on X, far less than a caption on Instagram or a post on LinkedIn. Lead with the point in the first sentence, then use the rest for one supporting detail or example.
If an idea needs more room, split it into a short chain: publish the first post, then add the next parts to the same thread. Ask for the opening post here and continue it yourself, or describe each part in your brief.
The built-in instruction asks for a post under 500 characters, but AI can miss a count, so check longer drafts in the Social media character counter before you post.
One topic tag per post
Threads lets you add one topic tag to a post, which links it to that topic so people browsing it can find your post. Pick the tag that best describes what the post is about, not the most popular one.
This page has no Hashtags setting, and the built-in instruction asks for one tag at most. Leave it out if the post works without one, or add your own in Threads before you publish.
Turn posts from X, Instagram or LinkedIn into Threads posts
Many people post the same idea on several platforms. That works best when each version suits its audience. A post from X usually fits Threads with small changes: drop platform-specific references and extra hashtags, and add a question if you want replies. A LinkedIn post usually needs cutting down to its main point. An Instagram caption often leans on the photo above it, so add the context a reader without the photo would need.
Paste the original into the brief, say where it came from and ask for a Threads version. You'll get up to three rewrites to compare.
Schedule it with Social media studio
Social media studio publishes text, photo, video and carousel posts to Threads on a schedule. Paste your draft into the post composer, add media if you have it and pick a time. The composer suggests posting times for the accounts you select, and the free best time to post tool includes benchmark windows for Threads.
Scheduling needs a Social media studio plan or a 7-day trial; the generator on this page is free to try on Creator or a higher plan, including a Creator trial.
