The TikTok Creator Fund is TikTok's monetisation programme that pays eligible creators a per-view rate based on views, region, and content type. Joining takes about 5 minutes once you meet the bar — but the bar matters, and the payout per view is lower than most beginners expect.
We've helped creators apply and audit their earnings. Here's the eligibility list, the application steps, and the realistic earnings per 1,000 views.
TikTok Creator Fund eligibility requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have at least 10,000 followers
- Have accumulated at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
- Be based in an eligible region — currently the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain
- Have a personal account that complies with TikTok community guidelines
- Have no recent strikes against your account
Business accounts cannot apply. If you have a Business account, switch to Personal in Settings before applying.
How to apply to the TikTok Creator Fund
- Open the TikTok app.
- Tap "Me" → three-line menu → Settings and privacy.
- Tap "Creator tools." If you don't see this, your account doesn't meet eligibility yet.
- Tap "Creator Fund."
- Read the terms. Accept.
- Confirm your country and verify your identity (legal name, date of birth, tax info).
- Submit.
Approval usually happens in 24-48 hours. You're in once you see "Active" on the Creator Fund page.
TikTok Creator Fund earnings per 1,000 views
Real data from creator surveys and our own tracking:
- $0.02 – $0.04 per 1,000 views is the typical range.
- Top-paid creators see up to $0.08 per 1,000 views in rare cases.
- Low-paid creators see as low as $0.01 per 1,000 views.
Translation: a viral video with 1,000,000 views earns roughly $20-40. A creator posting consistently and averaging 200k views per video monthly earns roughly $50-150 from the Creator Fund.
This is why most experienced creators treat the Creator Fund as a small bonus and earn primarily through brand partnerships, UGC work, and affiliate links.
Why payouts are lower than people expect
Three structural reasons:
- Fixed pool. TikTok set aside a finite Creator Fund budget. As more creators qualify, each individual creator gets a smaller share.
- Per-view rate, not engagement-weighted. A video with 1M views and 5 likes pays the same as a video with 1M views and 50k likes.
- Region weighting. US views pay more than other regions. International virality earns less.
Creator Fund vs. Creativity Program Beta
TikTok launched a Creativity Program Beta as a higher-paying replacement for the Creator Fund. Differences:
| Creator Fund | Creativity Program Beta | |
|---|---|---|
| Min video length | None | 60 seconds |
| Payout per 1,000 views | $0.02-$0.04 | $0.40-$1.00 (5-20× more) |
| Eligibility | 10k followers, 100k views/30 days | 10k followers, 100k views/30 days, 18+, US/UK/France/Germany |
| Available to | Existing Creator Fund members | New + existing US creators (UK rolling out) |
Creators in eligible regions should opt into the Creativity Program if available. The payout difference is dramatic, and the only catch is the 60-second minimum video length.
How to maximise earnings
- Post consistently. 3-5 videos per week. More volume = more eligible views.
- Optimise for watch time. Reach matters but watch-time matters more for fund calculation.
- Target US viewers. US-based audiences earn higher per-view rates. Reference US culture, use English captions.
- Hit 60 seconds. If eligible for the Creativity Program, ensure every video is at least 60 seconds — much higher payout.
- Don't recycle other-platform content. TikTok detects watermarks and reposted content; reposted videos often don't earn Creator Fund revenue.
When does TikTok pay out?
Earnings accrue daily and are available for withdrawal once you cross the minimum threshold ($10 in most regions). Payouts go to a connected PayPal account 1-2 business days after withdrawal request. Tax forms (W-9 for US, equivalent for other regions) must be on file.
Better-paying alternatives to the Creator Fund
- Brand partnerships. A single sponsored video for a 50k-follower creator pays $300-1,500 — more than months of Creator Fund earnings.
- TikTok Shop affiliate. Tag products in videos, earn commission on sales. Far more lucrative for creators with engaged niches.
- UGC work. Create videos for brands to post on their own channels. $150-1,500 per video. See our UGC creator guide.
- Off-platform monetisation. Drive viewers to a paid course, newsletter, or Patreon.
Is the TikTok Creator Fund being shut down?
TikTok has gradually deprecated the original Creator Fund in favour of the Creativity Program Beta in eligible regions. The original Fund still operates for existing members in some markets. If you're applying new, default to the Creativity Program if your region supports it.
